Ginlong (Solis) is a Chinese firm specialising in the design and manufacture of  solar and battery storage inverters. The company was established in Ningbo, China back in 2005. Solis boasted 40GW annual inverter production capacity in 2022, making it one of the world's biggest manufacturers. The company was aiming for 80GW production capacity by July 2023.

Solis Inverter Models

Solis offers a wide range of solar inverters; the later generations including the S5 Series for home applications. At some point in 2023, Solis will transition from the current S5 series its new S6 series.

The S6 offers maximum efficiencies of up to 97.7% and supports consumption monitoring with a smart meter. As with other Solis inverters, it features 2 MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Trackers), which enables two solar panel arrays to be installed facing different directions.

Solis In Australia

The company was among the first inverter manufacturers to enter the Australian market - around 2011, just as our solar power revolution was really starting to kick into gear.

Ginlong has several service points and commercial branches located in Europe (Sweden, Germany, and UK), in Costa Rica, in USA and in Australia.

Here in Australia, Solis has established a presence in Cheltenham, Victoria. When buying solar, it's important to select components from manufacturers who have a physical presence in this country in case you need support or to make a warranty claim.

Solis Inverter Warranty Notes

Solis inverter products were originally supplied with an industry standard 5 year warranty that could be optionally extended to 8 or even 10 years. However, residential inverters up to 20kW capacity installed from the beginning of July 2021 carry a standard 10 year warranty that can be extended to 15 or even 20 years. A ten-year product warranty as standard is really good for an inverter brand in this price range.

If you're the owner of a Solis inverter and have a warranty issue, your first point of contact should be the business that installed the device. Regardless of what they may state, they are the party liable for the repair/replacement of a faulty inverter if the unit still within its warranty period.

Solis advise that customers who can no longer contact their original installer should visit their website and fill out their Service Request Form, available here.

Solis will then arrange for replacement of the inverter. Note that Solis will charge a quote fee or minimum service charge for arranging the replacement/inspection of the inverter.
